U.S. homebuyers are on the move. According to Redfin’s latest “migration report,” there’s a big increase in the number of people migrating inland, away from expensive coastal cities. It shows that 25% of the people using Redfin were searching for new non-coastal metros during the third quarter of 2018. That’s up from 22% last year.

It’s called Proposition 10 and it’s a hot potato among those for and against rent control. It would give local governments the green light for rent control on virtually every kind of property by overturning the 1995 Costa-Hawkins Act. But, two recent polls show support for the measure is trailing by a good 10%.

This is a story for anyone who’s worried about identity theft or how their personal information is used on the internet, and it involves the man who invented the web in the first place, Tim Berners-Lee, or more accurately, “Sir” Tim Berners-Lee. He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2004. Within the past few weeks, Sir Berners-Lee threw back the curtain on a project to “take back the web” from corporations and hackers, and interest is reportedly “surging.”

The government program is part of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act to generate investor interest in targeted, mostly lower-income communities. U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren is confronting the housing affordability crisis with a massive piece of legislation that won’t go far in a Republican-controlled Congress.
